Nicolai Pfeffer's debut recordings include works by Robert Schumann, Max Reger and Alban Berg, followed by the two sonatas for clarinet and piano op. 120 by Johannes Brahms (CAvl Music, with pianist Felix Wahl), which have been unanimously praised by the European specialised press since their release.

Another recording entitled 'Affinità Elettive' was made at the Teatro Verdi in Florence with the Orchestra della Toscana under the direction of Markus Stenz. This recording, dedicated to the last twenty years of the great Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's life, contains a demanding yet varied programme: the Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra K. 622, the Rondo K. 373, the aria 'Sperai vicino il lido' K. 368 and the Symphony No. 29 K. 201. It was released by NovAntiqua Records and was unanimously acclaimed by the Italian and foreign press.

'Echi d'opera', another recently released recording with Pfeffer as soloist and the Orchestra della Toscana conducted by Markus Stenz, is dedicated to the clarinet works of Carl Maria von Weber and Pfeffer's own Italian opera fantasies.
